Ride with a Brother's Bloom

Do you know Rian Johnson?
Have you seen Brick??
Yes you must have... it was Neo Noir film on teenage age children and their deadly plans.
the same director comes up with a very different movie this time... It 's name is Brother's Bloom.

It's about two orphan brothers who become con artist in their adult life. Film starts in Bloom and Steven's childhood. No parent wants to keep these to notorious boys. From early days Steve makes a plan and Bloom implements it. The first seven minutes (before title sequence) works as prologue of the film. Even it works as an independent short film too. From here on we can see director's signature. The way he deals with child actors both in brick this scene is fabolous.

Cut 25 years later. Broom is trying to live an unwritten life .. independent of his brother. Steven convinced him with his freind Bang Bang ( awesomely beautiful Japanese actor-Rinko Kikuchi) to act for the last plan. Then plan starts to win Rachel Weisz property. There are so many U turns in the story so be atentive you might losose many beautiful things if you are not.

Final scene is so dark it reminds me of final scene of Brick when all the characters met in the tunnel. He is fond going zig zag towards the end.

I like most about this film is its superb dolly movements. A bit over used though. When I came out from the theatre I felt I am on dolly track too. It was raining out side. My friend's car came and I jump in. We drove away.

I didn't like its sound track and too much u turns. He could minimise a one or two u turns. It felt like movie is going to finish and then it peaks another note, another turn. It happened twice.
